Wope
Designing a Scalable SEO Intelligence Platform
Over four years, I helped evolve Wope from a rank-tracking product into a comprehensive SEO intelligence platform used by agencies, marketers, and growing businesses.
Working closely with the CEO, we focused on a simple challenge: making advanced SEO workflows accessible without sacrificing power.
The Challenge
Most SEO tools force users into a trade-off.
SEO work often involves dense data, unfamiliar terminology, and workflows that become difficult to navigate as products scale.
Simple tools are approachable but limiting. Professional tools are powerful but overwhelming.
Our goal was to create a platform that worked for both audiences.
Instead of simplifying SEO, we focused on simplifying access to it.
Powerful When Needed, Simple by Default
The core principle behind Wope was progressive complexity.
Users could start with a high-level overview and gradually dive deeper into rankings, competitors, search visibility, technical performance, and optimization opportunities as needed.
The platform expanded with the user's expertise instead of overwhelming them from the start.
Designing for Scale
Wope originally started as a focused rank-tracking product.
As new features, workflows, and products were added, the platform quickly outgrew its original structure.
After the first year, I led a complete redesign focused on information architecture, navigation, consistency, and long-term scalability.
It also clarified first-time setup flows so new users could reach meaningful insights faster.
Together, these changes established the foundation that supported the product for years to come.
Progressive SEO Analysis
Most SEO platforms expose data.
We focused on exposing understanding.
The experience was designed as a layered system that helped users move from awareness to investigation without losing context.
Users could understand overall performance, market position, and opportunities before diving into deeper analysis.
The Keyword Analysis Workspace
Keywords became the center of the experience.
Instead of forcing users to switch between tools and reports, we created a dedicated workspace where every relevant insight could be explored in one place.
Users could investigate rankings, competitors, search trends, SERP behavior, visibility changes, and optimization opportunities without leaving context.
Beyond Rankings
Modern search is no longer defined by ranking positions alone.
Featured snippets, SERP features, visual rankings, and search result layouts have a significant impact on visibility.
To help users understand these dynamics, Wope tracked and analyzed search result changes over time, providing a deeper understanding of search performance beyond traditional rank tracking.
From Insights to Action
Analysis alone is not enough.
Users needed clear ways to improve performance.
We designed optimization tools that transformed insights into actions, helping users identify opportunities, improve visibility, and make better decisions directly within the platform.
Building the Design Language
Beyond product workflows, I helped establish the visual foundation of the platform.
This included custom iconography, reusable components, chart systems, interaction patterns, and data visualization rules that created consistency across a rapidly growing product.
Outcome
Wope evolved from a rank-tracking product into a comprehensive SEO intelligence platform.
One of the highlights was reaching #2 Product of the Day on Product Hunt.
The most rewarding outcome was hearing users describe Wope as one of the most enjoyable SEO tools they had used.
